She is approved by the University of Cambridge to train teachers for CELTYL (Certificate of English Languages Teaching for Young Learners). London born and educated, Mrs Kontoloucas came to Cyprus in 1990, following a long and distinguished academic career in the UK. Sensing a need on the island for the effective tuition of English, she decided to open her own English language school, the English Learning Centre, in Limassol. Since the initial student intake of just 30 children, the school has continued to thrive and is now recognized as one of the most successful private language schools on the island. Her philosophy, 'a friendly, relaxed environment both in and out of the classroom contributes to greater commitment of both students and staff', has engendered a warm and professional atmosphere that permeates the School. This belief is illustrated by her 'open door' policy; Mrs Kontoloucas always ensures she is accessible and available to talk to her students, parents and staff, with or without prior appointment.
